In the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute, the Hindu side has accused the Sunni Central Waqf Board of fraud in a 1968 compromise. They claim that the property has belonged to deity Katra Keshav Deo for over 1,000 years and that Lord Krishna’s birthplace was demolished in Mathura. The Hindu side argues that the compromise made in 1968 was a “fraud” and that the deity was not a party in the compromise or in the court decree passed in 1974. They also state that the Sri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan, which made the compromise, was not empowered to do so.
On the other hand, the Muslim side argues that the suit is barred by limitation as the compromise was confirmed in a civil suit decided in 1974 and the present suit was filed in 2020. They also state that the suit has been filed for possession after removal of the structure of Shahi Idgah and for restoration of a temple. The Muslim side maintains that the structure of the Idgah is there and the mosque management committee is in possession of the same. The hearing in the matter will continue.
