The Mayapur ISKCON Temple in Nadia, West Bengal, recently hosted a grand Rath Yatra for Lord Jagannath and his siblings, Balabhadra and Subhadra. The Rath Yatra, also known as the Chariot Festival, is an important event in the Hindu calendar that involves a public procession in a chariot.

For this festival, the deities were brought from Rajapur, crossing five kilometers to the Mayapur ISKCON temple. The ISKCON temple in Mayapur is considered to be Jagannath Dev’s temporary aunt’s house. The deities are beautifully decorated with chariots, which were pulled through the streets.

The Mandap of Lord Jagannath was arranged inside the ISKCON temple. The Mangal Aarti began at 4:30 in the morning, followed by Narasimha Aarti, Tulsi Aarti, Shringar Aarti, and Guru Puja. Every day at around 12:30 p.m., 56 bhogs are offered in front of Jagannath Dev. It is known that more than 100 foods are consumed in 56, which are kept in front of the idol.

Many devotees from nearby and abroad paid their visit to Lord Jagannath every year. During the yatra, every day in the morning, several cooks and their assistants cook different varieties of food to offer for the Bhog to Lord Jagannath.

Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra are decorated with golden mantles on this day. Mangal Aarti and 56 Bhog Aarti will continue every day until the Ulta Rath Yatra, also known as the Bahuda Yatra. Aarti in the eight verses of Jagannath Dev is performed daily in the Mayapur ISKCON temple.

Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Subhadra return to the Rajapur temple from their temporary aunt’s house on the day of the Ulta Rath Yatra.
