Advocacy Group Flags Pattern Of Provocation By Khalistani Extremists At Hindu Temples In Canada

The Coalition of Hindus of North America (CoHNA) has raised concerns over a deliberate pattern of provocation by Khalistani extremists targeting Hindu temples in Canada, specifically highlighting incidents during Hanuman Jayanti celebrations in Brampton and Surrey. The advocacy group reported that worshippers, including children, were subjected to loud and abusive slogans as well as graphic displays despite the presence of police-managed buffer zones. CoHNA argues that such demonstrations disrupt religious observations and create an environment of intimidation, challenging the notion that effective crowd management is equivalent to ensuring public safety for faith communities. Furthermore, the organization rejected claims that these protests are directed solely at the Indian state, pointing out that many targeted temples are autonomous institutions run by diverse communities, such as Caribbean Hindus, who have the right to provide services and host guests without external interference or harassment.
