Bangladeshi Hindus are experiencing fear and anxiety as they begin celebrating Durga Puja, the largest Hindu festival in the country. Recent acts of vandalism, including the desecration of idols, have raised concerns about the  safety of religious minorities. The festival started under tight security following these incidents. The Bangladesh Hindu Buddhist Christian Unity Council has reported that idols at 19 Puja pavilions in 14 districts have been damaged in the past 15 days. Despite the festive atmosphere, the Hindu community is worshipping with a sense of trauma and fear of potential attacks. The interim government has promised to take measures to ensure the safety of the celebrations, but the community remains on edge.
