Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata visited the Neasden Shri Swaminarayan Hindu Temple. During their visit, they met with volunteers and community leaders, learned about the temple’s charity work, and admired the traditional Hindu art and architecture. Sunak offered personal prayers at the shrine and joined the evening assembly.
Sunak expressed his admiration for the temple’s physical beauty and its role in inspiring young people to volunteer and support their community. He acknowledged the temple’s contributions and paid tribute to His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the global leader of the Hindu fellowship, who sent a video message that was screened during the visit.
Sunak also viewed plans for a similar Hindu mandir in Paris, which he believes will bring communities of different faiths together in tolerant societies. This visit followed his tour of the Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi during the G20 Summit the previous year.
