A man named Maulvi Sohel Abubakr Timol, aged 27, was arrested in Surat, Gujarat for allegedly planning to murder the leader of a Hindu organization, threatening the chief editor of Sudarshan TV, BJP’s Telangana MLA Raja Singh, and the party’s former spokesperson Nupur Sharma. He was found to be in connivance with handlers from Pakistan and Nepal.
Timol, who worked as a manager at a thread factory and offered private tuition on Islam to Muslim children, was found to be conspiring to offer Rs 1 crore ‘supari’ (contract for killing) and procure weapons from Pakistan to kill the national president of Hindu Sanatan Sangh, Upadesh Rana.
He was also found to be involved in issuing threats to Rana in March this year using a virtual number from Laos. His phone contained photos and other details showing discussions about targeting and threatening Suresh Chavhanke, the editor-in-chief of Sudarshan TV, political leader Nupur Sharma, and Hyderabad MLA Raja Singh. They were planning to collect funds and procure weapons for this purpose.
