On March 21, during Holi celebrations at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a group of Muslim students allegedly attacked Hindu students. The attackers reportedly hurled abuses at Hindu deities and demanded a monthly payment of Rs 1,000 from the Hindu students for permission to play Holi. Despite receiving Rs 750, the attackers allegedly assaulted the Hindu students and caused serious internal injuries.

The incident was reported by Aditya Pratap Singh, a Master of Arts final-year student at the university. He lodged a First Information Report (FIR) under several sections of the Indian Penal Code. The victims have demanded strict punishment for the culprits and threatened self-immolation if action is not taken.

The police have registered a case and legal action is underway. They have assured the victims that action will be taken against the accused. The area is currently peaceful and no further injuries have been reported. The incident has caused significant distress and hurt religious sentiments.
