The Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) of Guyana condemned a recent song by local artist Baby Skello, labeling it a “blasphemous” and “deeply offensive act” for depicting the Hindu Goddess Lakshmi in a sexually explicit manner. The ERC emphasized that such content undermines social harmony and violates the principles of respect and cultural coexistence. It has formally requested the removal of the song from all digital platforms and is exploring legal avenues to address the issue. The Commission also plans to launch educational campaigns to promote religious respect among artists and the public.
