The Sandwell and Birmingham Mela will host the “biggest Diwali Mela in the UK” on October 20 at Victoria Park, Smethwick. This event was announced after the cancellation of Soho Road’s annual Diwali Mela due to funding issues. The free event will feature traditional music, dance, diverse food stalls, artisan crafts, and a professional fireworks display. It will also uniquely combine Diwali with Guy Fawkes traditions. Danny Singh, the founder, expressed excitement about bringing the community together and reviving the Diwali spirit. The organizers are known for the Birmingham Mela, the UK’s largest South Asian music festival.
