A coalition of Bangladeshi American Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians has called on President-elect Donald Trump to help protect religious minorities in Bangladesh. They describe the ongoing atrocities against these minorities as an “existential threat” from Islamist forces. The group urged Trump to secure the immediate release of monk Chinmoy Krishna Das, who they say has been falsely imprisoned on sedition charges. They also suggested linking Bangladesh’s participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions to the cessation of internal ethnic and religious persecution.
