The Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, believed to be built at the birthplace of Lord Ram, was officially consecrated on January 22, 2024, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding over the ceremony attended by 7,000 guests. This deeply emotional event resonated with Hindus worldwide due to the temple’s spiritual significance. The site was originally home to a Hindu shrine, which was demolished in the 16th century on the orders of the Mughal emperor Babur, and replaced with the Babri Masjid. Following centuries of contention, archaeological excavations uncovered Hindu carvings beneath the mosque. The Indian Supreme Court, in 2019, upheld the claim of Hindus to the site, thus paving the way for the temple’s construction and eventual inauguration.
