[ MPR News ] 2 charged after Twin Cities Buddhist, Hindu temples hit by national theft ring

Two men, Stefan Buzoianu (37) and Artur Crudu (27), have been charged in connection with a series of burglaries targeting Hindu and Buddhist temples in the Twin Cities area. The burglaries, which took place between May and July 2024, were part of a larger national theft ring.

The stolen items, including jewelry, cash, and sacred religious objects, are estimated to be worth around $100,000. The affected temples include the Hindu Society of Minnesota in Maple Grove, Sri Saibaba Mandir in Chaska, and Wat Promwachirayan in St. Louis Park. The local religious communities are deeply shaken by these incidents, and the authorities are working to ensure justice and prevent further occurrences.
