The world’s first ‘Vikramaditya Vaidik Clock’ is being installed in Ujjain, India. This clock displays the traditional Indian ‘Muhurt’ time alongside Greenwich Mean Time. It has been developed by the Lucknow-based Sanstha Arohan and can be connected to the internet to provide a wide range of features through a mobile app. The clock follows the Indian traditional division of day based on Vikrami Panchang or Vikram Samvat calendar, divides the 24-hour Greenwich time into 30 ‘muhurts’ and displays both times. It will also display information about Vedic Hindu Panchang, Tithi, planetary positions, astrological calculations and predictions. The clock was a dream project of Madhya Pradesh chief minister Mohan Yadav, who had released funds for the construction of the tower. The clock is expected to be unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 1.
