South Africa recently unveiled the largest Hindu temple and cultural complex in the Southern Hemisphere in Johannesburg. The BAPS Multi-Cultural Centre and Temple was inaugurated on February 2, 2025. The temple, built on a 14.5-acre plot, includes a 3,000-seater auditorium, a 2,000-seater banqueting hall, classrooms, a clinic, recreational centers, and more. The ceremony was led by Mahant Swami Maharaj, the spiritual leader of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS). The temple aims to serve as a hub for interfaith dialogue, education, and cultural preservation.
