The Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to appoint only “practising Hindus” to temple committees, excluding politicians and non Hindus. The VHP emphasized that temples are spiritual Hindu religious centers and should not be influenced by secular or political interests. They also called for the removal of any non-Hindu or non-practising Hindu staff currently employed at these temples.
The VHP believes that political leaders might prioritize secular feelings over the welfare of Hindus, which could undermine the religious integrity of the temples.
