The Concord Shiva Murugan Temple in Concord, California recently held a consecration ceremony to celebrate its reconstruction. The temple, which has been a place of worship for nearly six decades, was rebuilt in the Panchavarna (five-color) Chola-style, making it the first of its kind in North America.
On May 16, around 10,000 people gathered for Kumbhabhishekam, a sacred Hindu ritual to consecrate or re-consecrate temples. Concord City Councilmember Pablo Benavente praised the temple’s role in enriching the city’s diversity.
