Following Sheikh Hasina’s ouster in August 2024, Bangladesh has witnessed a disturbing surge in violence against its Hindu minority. A report by HinduVoice and local rights groups documents 26 major incidents from August 2024 to July 2025, including mob lynchings, arbitrary arrests, and forced exiles. Many victims were falsely accused of blasphemy, often triggered by fake social media posts. Districts like Khulna and Tangail became hotspots, where mobs desecrated temples and ransacked homes before facts could emerge. Unlike previous sporadic attacks, this wave of violence appears to carry tacit state approval or deliberate indifference. The Hindu community, comprising 13 million people, now faces systemic persecution, with little recourse or protection. The post-Hasina regime under Muhammad Yunus has failed to curb communal aggression, raising fears of institutionalized intolerance. The silence surrounding these atrocities underscores a grim new normal for Bangladesh’s religious minorities.
