Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, a prominent Bangladeshi author and editor of Blitz magazine, has raised concerns about Pinaki Bhattacharya, a Bangladeshi medical practitioner and YouTuber based in France. Bhattacharya, who sought asylum in France claiming to be a ‘political victim’ of the Awami League government in Bangladesh, has been accused of spreading anti-Hindu and anti-Indian propaganda.
Bhattacharya has reportedly urged his 1.6 million followers to boycott Indian products in Bangladesh and has posted several videos and posts with anti-India sentiments on his social media platforms. He has also criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for constructing the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, where the Babri Masjid once stood, and called for a boycott of Indian businesses including Marico, Emami, Dabur, Asian Paints, Godrej, and others.
Choudhury has expressed concern about the growing popularity of the ‘Boycott India’ campaign on social media, which could adversely affect Indo-Bangladesh trade relations and Bangladesh’s economy. He revealed that Bhattacharya’s parents disowned him after he converted to Islam under the influence of Tablighi Jamaat, and his wife distanced herself from him after learning of his affiliations with Pakistan’s ISI and his relationships with Islamists, jihadists, and terrorists.
During his stay in Bangladesh, Bhattacharya allegedly produced illicit sexual drugs, counterfeit medicine, and ‘Yaba’ tablets, a dangerous drug containing a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine, under the guise of producing life-saving drugs in his pharmaceutical factory.
