The Festival of Chariots, also known as Rath Yatra, is set to take place in Leicester on June 30th. This event is one of the most significant Hindu festivals and is expected to attract thousands of worshippers. The festival will feature one of the largest processions in the Midlands, starting with an inauguration ceremony at Humberstone Gate.
The event is organized by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Leicester, a branch of Hare Krishna. The festival aims to unite people in a grand procession starting at 11:30 BST. Participants will pull a 40ft chariot carrying statues of Krishna, his sister Subhadra, and Lord Balarama through the city centre, travelling along the Golden Mile to Cossington Park.
Pradyumna Das, the president of ISKCON Leicester, invites everyone, regardless of colour, nationality, or religion, to join the procession, participate in the chanting, and enjoy the cultural offerings.
