On 22nd May 2025, a Muslim mob attacked the Hindu village of Dahar Mashihati in Jessore, Bangladesh, following the murder of Krishak Dal leader Tariqul Islam over a land dispute. Over 20 homes, shops, and vehicles were set on fire, injuring several and displacing Hindu families, primarily from the Matua community. A Hindu youth, Sagar Biswas, was abducted and later rescued. The attack is part of a broader pattern of rising anti-Hindu violence since Sheikh Hasina’s ouster in August 2024, with over 200 reported attacks on Hindu temples, communities, and leaders under the interim government of Muhammad Yunus.
