During an anti-encroachment drive in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, evidence was uncovered suggesting that an ancient Hindu temple was allegedly occupied, destroyed, and later transformed into an Islamic structure. Chief Priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, Acharya Satyendra Maharaj, stated that the excavation revealed a tunnel, treasure, and a historical stepwell, supporting claims of the temple’s prior existence. The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is surveying the site and will submit a report. The Nagar Palika has deployed manual labor to continue the excavation after machinery failed to proceed.
