The Hindu community in Kashmore and surrounding districts of Sindh, Pakistan, celebrated the two-day Krishna Janmashtami festival with deep religious devotion and joy. Marking the birth of Lord Krishna, the festivities began days in advance with preparations like cleaning homes and buying new clothes. Devotees fasted, sang bhajans, decorated homes with flowers and rangoli, and presented tableaux to honor Krishna. The celebration peaked at midnight, believed to be the time of Krishna’s birth, with prayers and hymns continuing through the night. Traditional sweets such as maakhan and panjiri were offered to the deity. Community members emphasized Krishna’s role in the Mahabharata and the spiritual teachings of the Bhagavad Gita, which is often recited during the festival. The event highlighted the cultural richness and spiritual significance of Janmashtami among Pakistan’s Hindu population.
