The video shows Mamdani leading a protest against the demolition of the Babri Masjid and the Ram Temple, with chants that social media users claim were offensive to Hindus. However, Mamdani himself did not make direct remarks about religion in the video.

Additionally, Mamdani faced backlash for declining to sign resolutions recognizing Israel and condemning the Holocaust, though he has publicly stated his opposition to antisemitism. His campaign has received endorsements, including from Kamala Harris’s stepdaughter.
