On June 23, 2024, the 39th anniversary of the Air India bombing, a memorial event was held in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The event was attended by Indians who were angered by the presence of Pro-Khalistani supporters. The memorial was marked by emotional outpourings from family members of the victims of the bombing, which is considered the worst act of terror and mass killing in Canadian history.
During the event, some attendees called on the Canadian government to reopen the investigation into the 1985 bombing, which claimed the lives of over 300 people. As the event concluded, emotions ran high among some small groups of people who stayed behind, leading to police intervention to calm the situation.
Several politicians and dignitaries delivered speeches at the event, and Adrian Dix read out the names of all the victims of the June 23, 1985 tragedy. Further coverage of the event is expected to be shared in batch number 2.
