The article titled “Women take inspiration from Hindu temple celebration” on the Tameside Correspondent website discusses a special celebration held at the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, a Hindu temple in Ashton-under-Lyne. The event was attended by more than 200 women of diverse backgrounds and ages, and was organized to mark the United Nations’ International Women’s Day.

The two-hour program, called ‘Celebrating Women: Uplifting Communities’, focused on how everyone can advocate for harmony and draw inspiration from women past and present. It explored themes such as positivity, kindness, and community impact, and discussed the challenges presented by the Covid pandemic and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.

The program included video presentations, testimonies, and an insightful panel discussion, with participants including Councillor Sangita Patel and Tameside Council’s Community Safety Officer Sue Moorcroft. They shared their personal experiences during the event.

Kashmira Patel, a volunteer at BAPS, expressed that the program aimed to empower women to make a positive impact on society. The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, located on Lees Road, offers various educational, community, and spiritual activities for children, young people, families, and elderly people. It serves as a place of worship for hundreds of Hindus across Greater Manchester.
